Engineering in Transport: Theme for 2017 photo competition
14 September 2017
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers has launched its 2017 Photographer of the Year competition and is calling for entries on the theme ‘Engineering in Transport’.

The competition is open to all age groups, members and non-members of the Institution and entrants are invited to submit up to three photographs on the theme by 10 November 2017.
Philippa Oldham, head of transport and manufacturing at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and one of the judges of the competition, said: “We’re excited to be launching this competition and are looking forward to seeing how entrants interpret the Engineering in Transport theme. Members may be inspired by some of the great engineering achievements of the past, such as steam locomotives or vintage aircraft or perhaps look to new innovations, such as driverless cars. We hope engineers and non-engineers, adults and children will be inspired to take part.”
There is a £100 prize, a canvas of the winning photo and a certificate on offer for regional winners from: Americas, North East Asia, Southern Asia, South East Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Oceania and the UK & Ireland. The Overall Winner will receive £150, feature in the member newsletter Institution News and receive a contribution towards attending a regional dinner or Institution event. The runner up will receive £125. There is also an under 18s category, where the winner will receive £100 prize money, a canvas of their winning photograph and an instant camera.
