Driving down costs July 1st 2004 Installing ABB variable speed drives has saved a brass manufacturer 130 000 a year in energy costs.
Boliden MKM operates a brass casting plate near Walsall. Central Electrical carried out an energy audit on its filtrations plants, measuring energy use over a typical weeks production. The result pointed to potential energy savings with ABB drives of at least 25 000 a year on a 250kW fan and 15 000 a year for each of three smaller fans, giving a payback of just nine months.
However, total savings proved to be much higher at approximately 130 000 and, in addition, the variable speed drives help the company with associated environmental issues. More articles from ABB Limited: |
