Fuel savings March 1st 2004 After 12 months operation a packaged steam boiler plant room installed by Controlled Flame Boilers (CFB) has helped animal feed compounder, Thompsons of York, achieve a 40% saving on fuel, and improved product quality.
The plant room gave the client a self-contained and fully controllable package, that included a UHD 1250kg/h dual fuel steam boiler rated at 10bar/g, together with tanks, vessels and water conditioning plants.
The compact unit was crane lifted into a very limited space within the silo complex. As it included piping and wiring, it was quick and easy to connect all the services and the entire changeover project was completed in a week.
CFB recommended its UHD steam boiler. The three-pass reverse flame furnace design is said to produce excellent combustion with maximum fuel use. Since its installation, the company has seen steam generating fuel costs drop from 60p/t of feed produced to 35p/t.
The dry steam produced by the boiler improves the texture and the overall quality of the end product and has helped reduce the problem of scaling. The temperature of the steam also helps kill any bacteria that might be present. More articles from Controlled Flame Boilers Ltd: |
