Responding to the legislative challenge March 1st 2004 Here MHS Boilers comments on how boiler technology is evolving with an eye to legislatation that could be in place as soon as 2006
There are strong indications that the commercial heating sector will follow the domestic market by making condensing boilers compulsory - perhaps as early as 2006. Although it is still unclear exactly on what scale the commercial sector will be affected, recent developments in boiler technology demonstrate the real and imminent future of condensing in the commercial market.
The market direction towards more fuel efficient technology is now more certain than ever and MHS Boilers has responded with the Ultramax, a range of compact gas-fired condensing boilers.
The new range of energy efficient, low NOx Ultramax boilers are clean, compact and have a high output capacity (from 73kW to 1018 kW). We have combined the latest condensing technology with flexible siting and maintenance in a definite response to future demands comments Ian Bradley, managing director of MHS Boilers.
MHSs Ultramax boilers use a downward firing pre-mix, water cooled burner that is fully variable from 25% to 100% that, combined with precise gas to air mixing results in ultra clean emissions in the range of <53mg/kwh NOx (30ppm DAF), <19mg/kWh CO (15 ppm DAF). The boilers have been engineered to allow for quick and easy maintenance and flexibility in siting within commercial premises. If required, each model can be room sealed, particularly useful if combustion air within a building may be contaminated or if ventilation provision to a plant room is inadequate.
Additionally, the boiler can operate to provide automatic weather variable flow temperatures to ensure optimum operating efficiencies by varying the flow temperature relative to the external weather conditions. The Ultramax boilers can be installed in conjunction with a variety of matched intelligent controls to optimise fuel consumption, energy conservation and comfort. Up to eight boilers can be installed in a cascading modular arrangement, plus there is the possibility to have the boiler controls managing the heat delivered to up to 16 independent zones. The controls offered also have the capability to control domestic hot water and even include a channel dedicated to controlling a secondary circulation pump. Each boiler includes a user-friendly control panel, which manages the entire operational and safety functions of the appliance, with simple menu driven programming via a large lcd.
