Checks effects of flue gas SO3
March 1st 2007

Easy-to-operate, the Lancom 200 portable gas analyser from Land Instruments International is designed for measuring sulphuric acid dewpoint temperature.

In process control applications, it reports concentrations of SO3, generating data that can be used to reduce the volumes of costly additives injected into the fuel before the boiler to reduce downstream SO3 emissions.

Similarly, where additives are used to improve ESP performance, and particularly fly ash collection efficiency, the analyser can monitor SO3 slip, thereby reducing acid aerosol emissions (blue plume).

Acid smut and aerosol emissions are among the most significant emissions control issues for any plant, with serious consequences if they are not kept in check. The Lancom 200 monitors acid content closely and reports the Toxic Release Inventory for compliance purposes.
