Service for the RAF
September 1st 2007

Wellman has received an order for nine Ygnette hot water boilers for a Royal Air Force base in the UK. They will replace and upgrade existing Wellman Robey Ygnette boilers installed in 1977. The new hot water boilers consist of three 2500kW LPHW (4.5bar g) and six 800kW LPHW (10bar g) boilers, all with dual fuel modulating burners from Wellman's own burner company, GP Burners. The Ygnette is said to achieve high performance on all fuel types and is of the horizontal three pass wet back reverse flame designincorporating a large furnace within which the efficient combustion of fuel takes place. The design is said to provide near perfect combustion with maximum fuel use, high operational efficiencies and low running costs.

Modulating burner controls improve boiler operation by monitoring the water flow temperature to produce a continuous control signal that determines fuel input. Benefits also include higher turn down ratios.
