Steam raising system on skid or in container March 1st 2010 Steam systems from Babcock
Wanson can be supplied as
skid mounted packages or as
containerised plant rooms to meet
new steam demand or to supplement
an existing need.
Easy and quick to install, the
factory assembled and tested unit is
supplied with full CE certification in
accordance with the Pressure
Equipment Directive and is ready to
use as soon as it is installed on site.
The company can provide a
solution for low and high pressure
steam duties using its range of
traditional Steambloc firetube boilers
or coil type steam generator
technology.Most packages include
water treatment equipment and can
incorporate features such as fully
automatic start/stop, TDS control
and remote monitoring to keep site
operational costs to the minimum.
The steam plant can often be
assembled within a modified shipping
container; outputs from 150 to
2000kg/h can be accommodated in
an ISO standard 20ft container, or
up to 6000kg/h in the 40ft size. As
standard, containers have ventilation
louvers, lighting and anti-frost heating,
plus any special lifting/stacking/paint
finish. A short flue section can be
provided for immediate use; for longer
term operation a chimney complying
with Local Authority requirements can
be supplied.
Where a skid mounted plant room is
specified and
headroom on site is
limited, a low level
or floor-mounted
feedwater tank can
be provided with a
simple booster
pump to provide
the required head
to the main boiler
feed system. This ensures feedwater can
be operated at the optimum
temperature to drive off dissolved
oxygen, which helps reduce water
treatment chemical consumption.
Vertical or horizontal coil type steam
generators are popular for these
assemblies. In normal operation they
respond rapidly to any change of steam
load or can provide a full head of
steam in minutes from a cold start. More articles from Babcock Wanson UK Ltd: |
