Focus on filters
May 1st 2009

Filters are an integral part of any compressor system ensuring high quality, clean air which prevents costly damage to the system.

However, the elements need to be replaced regularly as repeated exposure to oil, vapour and particulate matter can over time cause filter elements to become clogged, creating an increased pressure drop across the filter and restricted air flow into the system.

Lianne Walker, director, group general manager of Walker Filtration, says "Every 1barg pressure drop within a compressor system equates to a 7% increase in compressor energy costs. The solution is simple – regularly replace filter elements."
