Overheating problem solved
September 1st 2005

Quantech Industrial’s Magellano range of refrigeration compressed air dryers is designed for flow rates from 22 to 90m3/min and is said to solve a problem associated with installation of dryers of this size: under-performance or safety-trip due to overheating.

Compressed air dryers are rated to the ISO7183 standard that is based on an ambient cooling air temperature of 25°C. However Quantitech says air temperature in the compressor house is usually way in excess of this figure, so problems occur.

The new Magellano dryer has a cooling air intake on one side only, so can be installed against a grille or louvres in an outside wall. In this way it is cooled directly by outdoor air, usually at least 5 to 10°C below plant room temperature. It has the option of centrifugal condenser fans that enable warm discharge air to be ducted into factory areas in winter.
