Cut energy May 1st 2006 One of Europe's major paper millers has reduced its energy costs significantly with the help of new Free Flow plate heat exchangers from GEA Ecoflex.
The Albbruck Paper Mill in southern Germany installed the new equipment as part of its optimised heat budget programme. The Free Flow plate heat exchangers are suited to the mill's application as they are able to handle water containing solids more easily than conventional baretube or spiral systems. This results in a more accurate control of heat and therefore a more economical use of energy. For example, improved whitening of the paper was achieved by increasing the system temperature by an average of 10%, without incurring additional energy costs.
