Defending against frost for World Cup beer
May 1st 2006

Frost protection at Carlsberg UK's new 10,200 m2 Northern distribution centre in Leeds is provided by a Nordair/Niche air rotation system.

Multiserve, a specialist in this type of installation, took delivery of the Nordair units and completed installation, ready for commissioning, in 12 days, in order to meet Carlsberg's deadline of 31 January.

This was particularly important as Carlsberg, official beer sponsor of England, gears up to full capacity at the distribution centre in time for the FIFA World Cup.

The Nordair/Niche system comprises two IDF19 heaters. the units discharge high volumes of warmed air from high level grilles into the body of the building.

In a different approach to frost protection The units draw in cooler air at floor level and discharge it at high level across the building, producing an effective mix with the high level warmer air and forcing it down to lower levels. The gentle airflow pattern distributes warmed air evenly without the need for costly duct work.
