Z Power series of air-cooled chillers
May 1st 2007 Coolmation has introduced the
latest R134A Z Power series of air
cooled chillers. Now available in
cooling capacities from 300kW to
700kW, these chillers are the latest
high technology products
developed by Rhoss.
The Eurovent certified Z Power
range will not only meet existing
ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowance)
criteria, but will also meet the
higher thresholds being proposed
by the Carbon Trust.
The Z Power range brings
together research and
development from the University of
Udine and from Rhoss itself.
The chillers feature semihermetic
screw compressors,
specially developed for R134A
refrigerant. The plate and shell tube
evaporators are designed to
accomplish high levels of heat
exchange, resulting in a more
compact device requiring smaller
refrigerant charge.
The low pressure drops on both
the refrigerant and water circuits
also improve the overall energy
efficiency. The air cooling
condensing section, coil and fan
has been optimised by redesigning
the tube geometry and
fin formation, creating more
efficient heat transfer and lower fan
motor power input.
An electronic expansion valve
achieves precise control of
refrigerant mass flow and allows
the system to operate at low
condensing pressures, generating
significant reductions in
compressor power input.
The controller provides
management of each of the
compressor capacity steps and
condenser fan step or speed
control to give smooth control of
variations in load and ambient
temperatures down to -5°C or
-10°C. All Rhoss spa products

European legislation and
