The John Guest compressed air system is made up of plastic push-in fittings and pipe colour-coded blue. It is said to be 100% leakproof all of the time and is light and easy to install.

To make a connection, a pipe is simply pushed into a fitting. Stainless steel teeth grip the pipe, while an O ring gives a permanent leak-proof seal. The system is immediately ready for use.

The smoothness of the inner bore of the pipe and fittings is said to result in higher flow rates and, because the system is corrosion-free, maintenance costs on air tools are reduced.

The system provides factories with savings not only through time and efficiency in the transportation of air, but also through its competitive price. A typical example is of one installation in a 28 000ft2 premises that was up and running within a budget of 5000. This compared to the anticipated 15 000 for a galvanised system.
