ECA HELP March 1st 2005 Melsmart Energy Centre reports that the uptake of interest-free loans for energy saving projects is just beginning to hit its stride, 12-months after the announcement of the scheme by the Carbon Trust.
“Actually, this is sooner than I expected, says Guy Kennett of the Energy Centre, “indicating a pent up interest in energy issues.”
Energy Action loans are part of a £10m government-backed initiative that lends up to £100 000 to SMEs for investment into capital equipment for energy saving.
Payback can be spread over four years.
Applying for a loan can seem daunting, explains Kennett.
“You have to work out, among other things, the project’s carbon-saving threshold.”
The threshold is, in fact, a saving of 0.39kg of carbon dioxide per annum per pound of the loan amount.
The Energy Centre can help applicants calculate this figure, along with compiling other data required. More articles from Mitsubishi Electric Europe: |
