Heat exchanger goes large
September 1st 2009

The Compabloc 12, Alfa Laval's largest ever Compabloc welded compact heat exchanger, is designed to help plant operators reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions while increasing plant uptime.

The all-welded unit can withstand pressures to 42 barg which makes it suitable for a wide range of duties in industries such as oil and gas, power, petrochemicals, chemicals, pulp and paper. The company says that in many applications a single Compabloc 120 will be able to replace one or more shell & tube exchangers, providing the same or greater capacity for lower capital investment.

A combination of high turbulence and true counter-current flow is said to offer maximum heat recovery which, in turn, provides energy savings because energy can be recovered and recycled.
