High importance
July 1st 2005

It is inevitable that energy efficiency will continue to play a bigger part in our professional lives. The Energy 2005 exhibition represents an opportunity to stay abreast of developments that will help enhance energy efficiency across all areas of a business Energy 2005, sponsored by London Energy returns to the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, on the 7th and 8th September 2005.

The Energy Show is rapidly achieving red letter status in the UK industrial and commercial energy solutions exhibition calendar. Its popularity is endorsed by the presence this year of exhibitors such as British Energy, Llumarlite, Eaton-Williams, Space Airconditioning, Stokvis, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, London Energy, Invensys, Tour Andover Controls, Scottish and Southern Energy and many others.

As usual, there will be much on view to interest the plant and maintenance manager as well as the facilities/energy manager and utilities procurer. The display will be varied but will include variable speed motors, pumps and fans, energy efficient heating and air conditioning equipment, CHP systems, management and specialised control systems, monitoring and metering equipment.

Service and utilities providers present will include gas, electricity and water suppliers, and energy, waste and water management consultants.

What marks Energy 2005 down as different to its predecessors however, is its greatly enhanced seminar programme. Of particular interest should be the one day conference organised by CIBSE, which qualifies attending delegates for CPD points. Further CIBSE presentations will comprise “Energy Assessment and Reporting”, which will discuss the production of meaningful reports reflecting the value of energy management plus “Energy Management and Changing Regulations” and “Sustainable Water Services”. These three sessions will be presented on behalf of The Society of Public Health Engineers. In recent years, ESTA organised seminars have also formed an integral part of the Energy Show and the popularity of their informative presentations has contributed considerably to the development and expansion of the event.

The theme this year is the “Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.” The ESTA seminars therefore, will major on practical engineering and operational advice on key areas of implementation, helping delegates to reduce operating costs and carbon emissions. Sessions will be held in the morning and afternoon of both days, each seminar lasting approximately 1 hour.

A new departure at Energy 2005 will see the ESTA “Fundamentals of Energy Management” seminar held on both days.

This seminar is similar in concept to “Energy Management, the Way Forward”, which was given last year to a packed and ‘standing room only’ audience. The decision to repeat this highly successful presentation will impart more flexibility into interested delegates’ plans to visit the show.

The Major Energy Users Council (MEUC) meanwhile, will once again stage a two day conference for professional electricity and gas purchasers, covering energy pricing, metering, purchasing tactics, strategy, policies and environmental issues. Split into bite sized sections, each seminar is intended to provide valuable insight into overcoming problems arising in the volatile energy market.

Last but not least, a further seminar on 8th September entitled “The Free Risk Management Seminar” is being organised by the leading independent energy services company, Encore International.
