Remote control
November 1st 2003

Todays communications, low cost computers and electronic burner controls have put remote monitoring and control within the scope of the most meagre budget. Energy Technology and Controls burner controls and oxygen analysers allow remote monitoring and control simply by installing a chip in the control and installing its ComView software on a pc. Fault messages can be sent to a mobile phone as SMS text or as emails to a pc and, by dialling the boiler house, the plant status and its operation can be viewed. Remote analogue and digital control via comms means that non-safety critical changes can be made remotely. Commissioned data can be seen, burners, oxygen trim, night set-back and sequencing can be switched on/off, the boiler setpoint can be varied and the burner modulated.
