Dryers join ECA product list
July 1st 2004

All 20 models in Quantech Industrials DE Dry Energy range of refrigeration compressed air dryers are now on the Energy Technology List of products that qualify for the tax benefit of Enhanced Capital Allowances.

The range covers airflow capacities from 0.3 to 37.5m3/min, and, in the capacity range to 24m3/min, they are believed to be the only dryers on the ECA list.

They use energy-saving control technology that matches cooling capacity and energy input to demand. The potential for part-load energy savings is considerable and is the reason the Carbon Trust decided this control technology should be eligible for ECAs.

The dryers use a technology called Global Transfer System, at the heart of which is a heat exchanger in which heat transfer between compressed air and refrigerant occurs both directly, in the finned coil evaporator, and indirectly, through a silica thermal mass. The microprocessor control system operates the refrigerant compressor to match demand and when the refrigerant compressor is switched off it is the silica thermal mass that ensures the stable dewpoint of the compressed air.
