Problem gone
May 1st 2005

Tempest Energy Systems, an associated company of SDC Industries, provides a range of specialist transformers and other associated equipment.

The company was approached with a problem by a major food processing company. The client required water to be pumped to its facility. The nearest outlying supply was 2km from the plant, and the company were experiencing difficulties obtaining connection to the electrical supply to enable water to be pumped to the plant. A 10kW pump was need for adequate water supply. The local electricity supplier was quoting a four month wait and an overall cost of £40 000, neither of which was acceptable.

Taking into account the problems of cabling and the risk of surges, spike and harmonics on the supply it was decided that Tempest Energy Systems’ 15KVA Constant Voltage Transformer (CVT) would be able to solve the problem. By using the 15KVA CVT, only a small cross-sectional area of light duty cable would be needed, and the drop in voltage would be eliminated. Any harmonics generated would be filtered out and the device would protect against surges and spikes.

Tempest Energy Systems fitted the CVT in less than one month, at a fraction of the cost quoted, enabling the processing plant to operate to its full potential.
