Air of quality January 1st 2004 British Energy has opted for CompAirs LSR-series speed regulated rotary screw compressors for its Heysham 1 and 2 power stations in Lancashire.
The most recently purchased models (L75SRs) have replaced oil-free reciprocating compressors. Contributory factors in their choice included quality of air and the fact that the machines were RFI suppressed, enabling engineers to safely use radios in their vicinity.
While the energy savings delivered by the speed regulated units are seen as a bonus, the LSRs also provide British Energy with a means of monitoring the system demand and health of the plant. More articles from The Bright Consultancy Limited: |
