Energy bills cut
November 1st 2004

Installation of a compressor system from CompAir has provided a cost effective solution for a USA newspaper.

Its owner reports that power bills are the lowest in 20 years.

The Macon Telegraph in Georgia uses CompAir’s speed regulated L120SR screw compressors, from Georgia-based distributor, Air Compressor Sales, to operate the vacuum pump that sorts and stacks 70 000 56-page newspapers every day.

The compressor has a variable speed switched reluctance drive system. It is designed to fluctuate with the load, so that no energy is wasted as the power required to generate the compressed air varies according to that required by the sorting and stacking system powered by the vacuum pump.

Described as simple to operate, reliable and easy to maintain, the compressor operates using advanced controls that integrate with the overall process to provide a hands-off approach.
