Huge savings November 1st 2004 ABB equipment installed for £20k is saving more than £100k a year at Salt Union’s Runcorn plant.
Replacing a single, oversized fan with a smaller version with speed control has cut energy consumption on one of the plant’s dryers by more than 60%.
The dryer’s previous fan motor was rated at 337kW, but an energy survey by ABB Drives’ Alliance member, Central Electrical showed that 132kW should be enough to create the draft needed by the dryer. The old fan was replaced by a smaller version from Fan Systems and equipped with a 132kW four-pole motor coupled to an ABB industrial drive. More articles from ABB Limited: |
