Conveys greater efficiency
March 1st 2005

A declining belt conveyor from Conveyor Systems has improved order picking for Robert Lee (London) at its Waltham Abbey distribution centre.

CSL installed the conveyor (7.9m) parallel to the first floor mezzanine edge to provide a safe and controlled flow of tote boxes to the ground floor. Complete order picks are placed onto a gravity roller conveyor at right angles to the belt conveyor, feeding around a 90° spiral bend to give a smooth transfer from the horizontal to the decline conveyor.

Supporting legs for the decline conveyor were positioned to provide a clear through way for personnel and loads. For safety, high level side guides are fitted to the conveyors.

At ground floor level, product transfers to a feeder section of gravity roller for manually off-loading to despatch racks.
