Fork sensor
March 1st 2005

New, self-contained BGL thru-beam fork sensors from Balluff are said to eliminate mounting headaches often encountered with fibre optic sensors used for part detection on machines and conveyors.

Applications include parts sensing on conveyor rails and conveying belts, position verification, parts dimension verification, parts counting in assembly lines, level monitoring in sight tubes and feed verification on automatic assembly equipment.

Available in sensing gap ‘slot’ sizes from 5 to 120mm and with a rugged metal housing, benefits claimed include: better accuracy than fibre optics with 0.3 to 0.8mm resolution; high switching frequency; adjustable sensitivity; integral signal processing; and simple installation.
