Overhead solutions July 1st 2006 MCM Conveyors has completed the fifth in a series of overhead conveyor installations at Mitras Automotive (UK), all of which are designed to improve handling efficiencies at the Winsford site.
The latest system was designed to handle plastic tractor fenders which are manually loaded by moulding operatives onto 276 purpose-designed conveying jigs to be transported on Powertrack 60 overhead conveyors. Right/left handed products are loaded as a pair or individually, to be transported via intermediate mezzanine storage to a paint line.
Once loaded onto jigs, product is routed along the Powertrack 60 conveyor to high level above a mezzanine, which provides 370m of multi-pass lanes to achieve the required storage capacity. The conveyor tracks are mounted to overhead roof supports to ensure safe, secure handling operations. Restricted space on the mezzanine meant the conveyor had to be extensively modified to create the required product clearances. More articles from MCM Conveyor Systems: |
