High speed solution for sheet metal company September 1st 2008 For many years, the sectional
overhead doors at KMF
Precision Sheet Metal in
Newcastle under Lyme have been
serviced by Crawford UK so, when
KMF was extending its factory, it
approached Crawford to quote for
new doors.
KMF had strict criteria, including
that the temperature had to be
controlled due to the manufacturing
process, staff had to be kept warm
(they were cold because the doors
were constantly being opened) and
there was the requirement to avoid
as much heat loss as possible for
energy efficiency.
Due to the elevated position of
the KMF building, it was also
important to specify a door which
could withstand high wind speeds.
Crawford's 855 High Speed Door
met all requirements as it is
designed to suit 28m/sec wind
loading.
A key feature of the door is that
it can withstand demanding use
and even collisions. If the bottom
bar is knocked out of its guide
rails, the door stops and
automatically reverses back to its
starting position and repositions
itself correctly in its guide rails.
Induction loops were installed both
sides of the door opening with
additional safety photo cell beams
so that when a forklift approaches,
it opens speedily and when it has
exited the door, it shuts safely.
KMF has a service contract with
Crawford. Doors are regularly
maintained and, if a repair is
needed, Crawford has a 24h, 7/7
operation around the UK. More articles from Crawford UK Ltd: |
