Floor gets an upgrade
January 1st 2008

Concrete Grinding has upgraded 750 linear metres of flooring to DIN 15185 specification in a new distribution warehouse built by Farsons Brewery on the island of Malta.

The project has enabled man-up lift trucks to operate at maximum speed and efficiency in the 12mhigh racking installation in the warehouse, which stores the company's own products as well as imported drink and food.

CG advised Farsons at the precontract stage on the floor design and racking layout in order to minimise the amount of grinding that would be required. After the floor had been installed by a local contractor, CG ground three wheel tracks in 13 of the 50m aisles and the full width of two other aisles in order to achieve compliance with the flatness specification.

Aisles were ground using the Laser Grinder system in just 23 working days. CG also filled 120 joints within the aisles with a special material to prevent damage by the wheels of the VNA trucks.
