Abbey opts for 4-way
November 1st 2008

Abbey Stainless Steels has expanded its services and moved to new premises in Sheffield. Handling and storage of raw materials is now based around the capabilities of two specialist 8t Combilift 4-way forklifts.

Group project manager Scott Green, says "We wanted to install high racking for better use of storage space, and needed a versatile forklift able to work in the narrow aisles between racks and manoeuvre around the columns in the warehouse. Once we checked out the 4-way abilities of the Combilift, it was the obvious solution." Combilifts range from the relatively lightweight 2.5t models up to a hefty 14t capacity for heavy duty work. In this case, an 8t capacity, diesel powered unit was chosen with a shorter than standard deck to fit in the 2.7m aislewidths.

The truck proved so effective that a second one was ordered.
