Consolidating handling fleet
September 5th 2003

Paper and forest products logistics specialist, Westerlund UK, used to run a mixed materials handling fleet in three locations within the port of Tilbury. In autumn 2001 it consolidated its operation in an 18 5000m2 custom-built warehouse at the Fortress Distribution Park adjacent to Tilbury Dock and opted to use Lansing Linde for the new, single manufacturer fleet

Supplied by Lansing Linde Trifik, trucks are painted in Westerlund’s colours and include 10 hydrostatic LPG powered forklifts with capacities from 2 to 4.5t. An 8000L LPG bulk storage tank on site is used for recharging the volumetric tanks, obviating the need for gas bottles

The site also has a C 360/3 container handler capable of lifting 36t and an H 100 10t counterbalance truck that lifts empty 20ft containers

The H20 and H35 trucks have triplex masts enabling them to work inside containers, while an H35 and H45 are fitted with Auramo rotating clamps to handle paper reels of up to 150cm dia

The company has also added Lansing Linde’s new 39X 2t machine to its fleet.
