Engines get EPA Tier 4 certification March 1st 2007 Cummins has announced that its A Series engines have been certified to EPA Tier 4 interim emissions regulations scheduled to take effect in January 2008. Cummins says this is believed to be the first production engine certified to meet the Tier 4 requirements, and offers lower emissions than the current European Stage 3A limits applicable to this engine output. Significantly, Cummins Tier 4 technology solution for its A Series engines is built upon the identical industrial engine platform range launched for Tier 2 in 2002. This is a major achievement considering Tier 4 Interim represents a 50-percent reduction in emissions of particulates versus Tier 2. |
