Film role for trucks March 1st 2006 Two new forklifts from Translift Bendi allow BPI Films in Sevenoaks to make best use of storage space, while maximising handling efficiency.
Six years ago storage height was raised and aisles reduced from 3.6 to less than 2.3m wide.
This presented no problem to the Translift Bendi. A centre point steering truck, the Bendi can swivel its mast through 200°, allowing it to work in aisles just 1.6m wide.
Guided by paper pick lists, during the day Bendi drivers remove 1t reeled pallet loads from the racking for placing outside under a canopy, where a counterbalance truck takes over for lorry loading. The Bendis also help with loading curtain sided lorries when required. At night, the second Bendi puts away the day's film production into 7m high racking. To cope with such heights, the Bendis needed special high lift masts.
Safety features fitted include a reversing bleeper and headlight.
Trucks are said to give the driver better load vision when interfacing loads with racking beams. Lack of rear end swing means less risk of truck and rack damage. More articles from Translift Bendi Limited: |
