Safely manoeuvres long loads January 1st 2007 Safe handling of extreme lengths and a 50% cut in loading time are just some of the benefits that a Combilift 4-way forklift has brought to operations at the Stockport branch of industrial door manufacturer, Indupart. Steel and foam composite insulated panels previously had to be ordered in a variety of lengths due to the handling limitations of the counterbalance and 4-way reach truck that used to operate at the site. The Combilift's manoeuvrability and sideways ability have enabled Indupart to buy in 13.2m long panels, saving money and time. The 3.5t capacity LPG-powered forklift is used to offload incoming deliveries of panels which, typically, weigh 1.5 to 2t per pack, and take them to outside racking. When panels need to be cut to size, the truck's manoeuvrability enables direct positioning at the cutting machines in the manufacturing area. It also loads the finished and packed end product. The Combilift system enables a one man/one truck operation. This has cut the need for multiple operatives and truck movements in the loading area, contributing to safer handling procedures. Damage to stock, particularly the bottom couple of panels in each pack, has been eradicated as the forklift has a 6.4m removable spreader bar. More articles from Combilift Limited: |
