Battery boost
January 1st 2008

Working behind the scenes at the revamped St Pancras station is a fleet of Linde materials handling equipment powered by Exide Technologies' Sonnenschein Dryfit gel batteries.

These are maintenance-free and do not produce any gas when being charged, important when charging areas are below ground level in low ventilation areas.

Exide Technologies also provided the associated chargers, both standard and high efficiency.

The use of battery power helps Eurostar achieve its aim of being carbon-neutral.
