Carlsberg automates its handling operation September 1st 2007 Elettric 80 has received an
order from Carlsberg to roll
out its technology at a
facility in Falkenberg, Sweden.
The company will supply
Carlsberg with a Laser Guided
Vehicle (LGV) storage and retrieval
system which will automate
material handling.
The solution will increase
operational efficiencies at the plant
by automating the movement of
palletised products from the
production line and receiving
docks. Depending on order
requirements, the technology will
manage the storage of pallets and
the facility and ensure the
transportation of product directly to
the shipping docks. Elettric 80 will
provide 22 dual pallet handling
LGVs, which will complement two
single LGVs currently in use.
Peter Nilsson, supply chain
director at Carlsberg Sweden, says
"Over the last few years, we have
worked on improving our logistical
infrastructure. When the decision
was taken for the next step of
efficiency improvements, to
automate the end-of-line process in
Falkenberg, it was natural to
consider an LGV-based solution.
"E80 had a solution which
worked for our existing facility,
offering conventional block storage
capabilities and the ability to store
in different types of rack." More articles from Elettric 80 AB: |
