Teletruk from JCB differs from traditional counterbalanced forklifts in that, instead of the usual vertical mast, it has a telescopic boom.

The Teletruk's forward reach ability allows a trailer or train to be loaded/offloaded from one side only. The company says this means the risk of an accident is drastically reduced in a busy factory yard, or other area where space is restricted.

JCB says lift trucks have to travel to both sides of a lorry to pick up and put away a load, they have a blind spot every time they negotiate a manoeuvre that entails passing the front or rear of the vehicle. This brings a greater chance of accidents involving not only other trucks but pedestrians.

With the telescopic boom mounted to the side, the Teletruk affords a clear view forward.
