Heavyweight solution March 1st 2007 Corus has taken delivery of a 12t capacity Combilift 4-way forklift to handle the ever increasing sizes of product arriving at its Rotherham base. The diesel-powered combilift, the heaviest of the Combilift range so far, works in the stockholding area at the Aldwarke site. It has replaced a combination of sideloader and narrow aisle electric trucks and handles engineering steel bars up to 10.5m long and weighing a good 10t. Uneven surfaces encountered when transporting bars to and from the storage areas and cutting facility pose no problem, as all Combilifts are designed to work on semi-rough terrain. The truck's triplex mast enables good use of top level racking in the 6m high exterior storage area. Ted Nind, warehouse supervisor, says the Combilift provides flexibility and enables quick and exact positioning of bars at the cutting machines More articles from Combilift Limited: |
