Sporting a versatile space-saving solution July 1st 2007 Rapid expansion at leisure
and sports retailer Elverys
Sports over the last few
years has led to a corresponding
need for more storage space at the
company's central distribution
warehousing operation in
Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
Since switching from a
combination of counterbalance
and reach trucks to an Aisle-
Master articulated forklift, the
company has almost doubled the
amount of pallet spaces it can fit
into its second warehouse on the
site. Elverys planned the
configuration of the warehouse
around the capabilities of the LPG
powered Aisle-Master.
Aisle widths have been reduced
to 1.9m, the truck's 10.5m mast
allows use of all vertical space, and
the total number of pallets
accommodated is 850.
Ian Place, warehouse manager,
comments "It is amazing to think of
the benefits you can achieve just
by choosing a different forklift."
The 2t capacity is more than
enough to cope with the loads –
the heaviest pallets are those
containing treadmills which weigh
about 1t.Super-elastic tyres and
hydrostatic drive enable be Aisle-
Master to be equally at home
within warehouse aisles or outside,
offloading on semi-rough terrain.
Driver benefits include good
visibility from the cab, high quality
suspension seat, adjustable
steering column and lack of rear
end swing when manoeuvring. More articles from Aisle-Master Ltd: |
