Versatile truck with intelligent ergonomics
July 1st 2008 Aversatile counterbalanced
truck has been introduced
by Crown. The new RC
5500 will work in narrow aisles like
a reach truck, cross the warehouse
and stack vans and lorries like a
conventional counterbalance or
shift pallets like a powered pallet
truck.
It has the latest technical
innovations, including
maintenance-free e-GEN braking
system and FlexRide suspension
technology for maximum uptime.
The operator has the same
visibility as on a reach truck. This is
supported by a low profile,
sculpted drive unit, a clearview
mast, a radial design overhead
guard and flexible side stance.
The FlexRide Suspension
counteracts impacts caused by
uneven ground or travelling over
rails or fixed obstacles in the floor
and reduces driver vibration. Soft,
rounded surfaces, a padded back
support with integral side
restraints, padded arm rests and a
premium rubber floor mat add to
comfort in the cab. A soft grip steer
tiller with hydrostatic steering
reduces operator fatigue, while a
low floor height of 240mm aids
entry/exit for the operator.
Such features contributed to the
truck being given the FLTA Award
for Ergonomics.
The truck has Crown's Intrinsic
Stability System to minimise the
causes of unstable conditions.
Standard lift heights are to
6200mm with Triplex mast; 7010mm
with a Quad mast and the RC
series trucks are available in 1.5
