Barge brings benefits
November 1st 2006 IDS initially approached Hubtex in 2004 because it was looking for a better way to pick long, heavy and awkward worktops with ease from any height with two men. IDS had traditionally picked worktops in bulk. It was thought that with the Hubtex EZK 20, sometimes referred to as 'the Barge,' improvements to safety, productivity and product care could be made. After two visits to see similar trucks in Germany and Belgium, IDS requested a quotation and price, and consequently trucks were ordered through Linde and supplied on a Rental Agreement in April this year. Since their installation benefits of the Barge trucks that have been noted include; product can be picked from either side of the aisle - the majority at waist height, the truck will only function if both operatives are within the confines of the platform and AC Motors and a battery changeover facility ensure that the truck offers the best uptime possible for their requirements (this is a 24 hour a day operation).
