Cool customer July 1st 2006 AL-Vac's battery-operated Combat vacuum lifter has proved that it is not just useful in industrial and construction applications. Two of the compact machines have recently been used to build ice houses to promote German bank ING.
The Combat was used to lift the huge ice bricks into position, a delicate task for a material that is both fragile and extremely heavy. The lifter, however has a maximum capacity of 500kg and is easily manoevred when suspended from the bucket linkage of a digger or excavator. An extension tube and hinged handle on the Combat mean operators can keep a straight back when positioning loads, while remaining at a safe distance from the item being lifted.
The full size ice houses were the largest ever built in non-Arctic conditions. Each used 120tonnes of Canadian ice. More articles from Al-Vac UK Ltd: |
