Door lock system goods-only hoists May 1st 2007 Equipment rental provider
Hewden has added further
health and safety features
to its goods only hoists with
the support of Emessem
Solenoid.
The company designed
and manufactured a fully
mechanical interlocking
door lock system for the
hoists, which provide clients
with high levels of safety
while the hoist is in motion
or between landings.
Goods-only hoists are
used in the construction of
high-rise buildings, enabling
the transportation of heavy
materials to multiple
landings. They have heavy
duty sliding gates which, if
opened when the hoist is in
motion could result in
accidents.
Emessem Solenoid
developed a mechanism for
its fleet construction goodsonly
hoists whereby a
safety switch would
establish whether the hoist
had reached the landing
before allowing the gate to
be opened.
From its investigations,
the company determined
that if the new lock could be
made as a 'plug & play'
unit, Hewden would not
have to employ and wait for
a qualified electrician.
The company has now
started work on developing
a shotbolt for another hoist
gate system. More articles from Magnet Schultz Ltd: |
