Flexible tug September 1st 2005 Two MasterTugs from MasterMover are used by Nissan Motor Manufacturing to move trucks carrying press die sets of up to 30t.
Trucks cross the press shop on rails to allow the die sets to be hoisted by any of the 17 overhead cranes that run longitudinally down the shop.
Peter Brady, technical officer, explains "We had two units installed and are in the processing of installing a third. This means all of NMUK’s die trucks in the press shop will have this new concept drive system.
"One of the main benefits gained is flexibility. The unit is easily detached from the truck via the removal of one pin and any of the other drives can be used in its place. In the past this was not possible; the truck was motionless until repairs were completed." More articles from Mastermover International Ltd: |
