Robust roll cages for TK Maxx March 1st 2006 Retailer TK Maxx has enhanced its fleet of handling equipment with the addition of roll cages from Wanzl.
Forming a key component of the company's logistics operations, the roll cages are used for dynamic order picking and as store delivery cages transported from four distribution centres around the UK.
For use in the product picking process, empty cages in the loading area are filled with products for delivery. These are then taken to the picking area, where further cages are laid out in store order. Items for each store are transferred to the relevant cages as the picking operative moves along the pick faces. Once store cages are complete, they are loaded on to waiting transport.
TK Maxx chose the robust, lightweight Wanzl roll cages because of their potentially long life span and low maintenance requirements. The way in which the roll cages fully nest to save space when not loaded was also a contributory factor in the decision.
The standard roll cages have two fixed and two swivel castors, and an integral intervening shelf to allow even and safe handling while using the maximum capacity per cage. More articles from Wanzl UK: |
