Double decker

At Comet's new distribution centre in Skelmersdale, heavy lifting of appliances is performed by 16 double decker scissor lifts from Trans Lyft Lifting Technology.

Each lift can hold in excess of 6m3 in volume and, together, they can lift the equivalent of 1024 microwaves, 256 washing machines, or 128 fridge freezers.

Trans Lyft worked in partnership with other contractors to provide scissor lift tables that can load and unload from double deck trailers in one rotation. Features such as bridging plates and barriers fitted with sensors to keep the lift secure, were also included.

Comet is so impressed with the lifts that it has asked Trans Lyft Lifting Technology to work on similar solutions at other sites.
