Ramp system serves up fast unloading for kitchen firm January 1st 2008 A yard ramp and extending dock
leveller from Thorworld Industries
have reduced turnaround times for
trucks unloading goods at kitchen
appliance maker, CDA Group.
The 10t capacity ramp is
positioned inside the goods
inwards warehouse at the
Nottingham site. With an overall
length of 12 200mm and a useable
width of 2250mm, the ramp is
solidly built with a steel
superstructure using the latest
solid beam technique. It can be
raised to a height of 1680mm.
Fixed to the end of the ramp is
an electro hydraulic dock leveller
2250mm wide by 2500mm long. It
has a telescopic sliding lip which
can be extended to 500mm and
operated to 1.6m and -900mm. It
reaches right inside to the floor of
the vehicle being unloaded.
The versatile system is used to
help unload all the different types
and sizes of vehicles that serve the
warehouse. These vary from
standard container trucks to lowwheelbase
Continental-style
vehicles, the floors of which can be
as low as 1m above the ground.
The system can be set up
automatically in seconds by the
push of a button, allowing fork lift
trucks to quickly enter a vehicle to
begin unloading.
The platform has a 3000 by
3600mm area giving ample room
for a forklift truck to manoeuvre,
and extra space to stock products
if required. It is fitted with safety
rails. Thorworld also supplied
associated dock bumpers and
wheel alignment curbs for
additional safety and protection of
vehicles and the building.
Thorworld mobile yard ramps
are ruggedly built and are suitable
for the fast loading and unloading
of vehicle trailers and containers by
fork truck – particularly where there
is no raised loading dock. More articles from Thorworld Industries: |
