Smooth moves for smoothies
September 1st 2007 The lack of a fixed loading bay at
serious Food Company's
Llantrisant site has been solved
with the introduction of a mobile
yardramp and loading platform
system from Thorworld
Industries.
A key part of a £5 million
modernisation programme at the
plant included the addition of a
new production line for the
company's Serious Fruit
Smoothies.
The Thorworld equipment was
chosen as a simple and costeffective
method of unloading raw
materials from container vehicles,
as well as loading finished goods.
The system consists of a
10 000kg capacity yardramp, and a
loading platform fitted with a
6000kg capacity electro hydraulic
swing lip type dock leveller.
Positioned adjacent to a doorway,
Thorworld also equipped the door
frame with a Neoprene dock seal
to create a good seal between the
building and vehicle during loading
and unloading.
The 2400mm wide by 3600mm
long loading platform is fitted with
safety handrails on both sides.
Fork lift trucks drive up the ramp
onto the platform to unload
incoming pallets of raw materials in
Palacon containers and load
pallets loads of finished goods.
The ramp has a serrated opengrid
deck for positive traction in all
