Round-the-clock operation

Cold storage and distribution company Langdons has installed seven Atlet Presto PLP powered pallet transporters in its distribution centre in Taunton. They work around the clock, handling up to 15 000 pallets per week and were chosen for their ability to withstand tough conditions and for the high level of back-up offered by Atlet.

The ride-on machines work across dock levellers to unload incoming delivery vehicles and transfer pallets to chill and cold stores, operating at 0 to -4°C and - 18 to -23°C respectively.

Atlet says the truck offers superior traction and heightened stability. A tiller steerarm with a computer gives PIN access and enables driving characteristics to be programmed.

There is also a Truck Remote Access system by which diagnostic tasks are carried out by linking the truck through a mobile phone to Atlet’s remote service centre computer.
