Safe lifting formula for chemical manufacturer
September 1st 2008

When a chemicals manufacturer in the South West wanted a solution to various handling problems, Southworth Handling provided the equipment.

A Vairii-Lift hoist and attachments were supplied to handle various containers at the site. The client then wanted a similar installation in a building with a low ceiling and Southworth provided a suitable version of the equipment.

The customer wanted to pack product in this area and again Southworth provided a solution working direct with the customer and employees. Each operator has a packing station and each pair of packing stations is served by a Vairii-Lift to lift product into the mixers. Empty bottles are brought in on pallets and loaded on a scissor lift. A further scissor lift mounted alongside allows the operator to load the completed product and despatch it without double handling.

Southworth also supplied a Manuvit adjustable width pedestrian stacker and drum turner attachment; units have a safe working load of 350kg and lift to 2.4m.

The unit was adapted to suit the low overhead height in the operating area using a special folding mast.

This allows the unit to work up to 1.5m within the low roofed area and a full 2m in the main mixing room and still pass through a doorway of just 1.6m.
