Automated work positioning January 1st 2005 For furniture producer Roundel Manufacturing of Washington Tyne & Wear, the affordability of a standard model battery lift work positioner with fully automated working height adjustment has transformed production operations to the benefit of both employee health and productivity.
Rather than manually handling the floor-stacked, in-process furniture panels, the company now uses four Kentruck GXN1200 Giraffe work positioners.
These operate as a conventional pallet truck, enabling panel stocks to be manoeuvred precisely to the workstation. Once the stack height has been manually positioned, a simple setting of the electronic height adjuster, that inches up as units are removed, is all that is needed to present each panel at the optimum level for transfer.
