Lightweight, cost effective battery chargers

A new range of lightweight, cost effective industrial battery chargers has been introduced by RD Power.

The RD155 is an entry level, fully automatic Wa charger that applies the appropriate charge independent of condition and degree of discharge.

The RD145 is a high-frequency charger for all battery types that is small and light, making it suited for mounting on board an electric truck.

It is controlled by a built-in microcomputer and supplies a constant charge up to 2.4v/cell which drops to a pre-set level depending on battery capacity and type and reduces to a 2.26v/cell trickle charge.

The most advanced new products are the RD175 and RD185 that have many options to increase the efficiency of the charging process. The RD175 products are programmable, primary switched chargers with adaptable charging curves, optimised for most battery types. This ensures that each battery is fully charged in the shortest possible time with low water use and minimum wear.

The RD175 and RD185 have a microcomputer that calculates the suitable charging effect and monitors the charging cycle. If a fault is detected it is displayed on an lcd and the cycle is immediately interrupted. They can also cope with large mains voltage variations.
